No foul play suspected in infant’s death at Stanford
The Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office is saddened by a tragic incident involving a 5-month-old baby at an apartment on Stanford University’s campus.
On Monday, July 1, 2024, about 11:30 a.m. the Stanford Department of Public Safety notified the Sheriff’s Office regarding an infant not breathing at an apartment along Barnes Court. When first responders arrived, CPR was started immediately. The baby was transported to a hospital but unfortunately was pronounced deceased at approximately 12:30 p.m.
Deputies, detectives, crime scene investigators, members of the Office of the Medical Examiner Coroner, and the Office of the District Attorney all responded to the home. A preliminary investigation suggests this was an accident.
Investigators are still reviewing evidence, and the Office of the Medical Examiner-Coroner will conduct a final review to determine the child’s cause of death.
