The Jail Reforms Division was established in fall of 2016. This is when the Grievance Unit was created as a mechanism to centralize inmate grievance tracking and responses, and to improve the timeliness and overall quality of the complaint responses. In addition, the New Jail transition team was developed to collaborate in the development of a New Jail facility. The Jail Reforms Division is committed in collaboration with its partners to provide needed system enhancements to the Correctional facilities.
The goal of the Grievance Unit is to provide a transparent inmate grievance process that provides those in custody a safe, secure, and easy to understand means to document and transmit complaints about the actions or inactions of custody staff, facilities, and operations.
The New Jail Transition Team is committed to building a new jail facility that reduces recidivism through rehabilitation, offering educational and vocational programming, as well as, providing medical and mental health services so that inmates can successfully reintegrate back into society.
