Grievance reports

The Grievance Appeal process allows an incarcerated individual the opportunity to contest the original disposition of a grievance. Incarcerated persons are allowed one appeal per grievance, and it must be submitted within 30 calendar days of receiving the grievance disposition. Once the appeal is received, management from the pertinent Custody Division or Business Unit evaluates the appeal and the original grievance to ensure a meaningful resolution was achieved. If management determines that the resolution was not effective or sufficient, then they will overturn the original disposition and seek the proper resolution. Conversely, if management determines that the matter was properly resolved, then the original disposition will be upheld.

The Grievance Unit measures our ability to provide a confidential and easy way for incarcerated individuals to submit and receive meaningful responses to their grievances by (a) instituting a centralized review process to ensure consistent and meaningful responses, and (b) implementing a robust tracking system to analyze and react to complaint trends, ensuring that grievance responses are timely. Below are the periodic grievance reports.  The reports provide inmate grievance trends, including an overview of the two highest inmate grievance categories, and the number of inmate grievances submitted.
